Elon Musk-owned xAI’s Grok AI chatbot has ‘ChatGPT’ problem, 'fix' coming

Elon Musk recently announced that xAI’s Grok AI chatbot will be available for a section of users. Over the weekend, a lot of people tried and posted screenshots of conversations on X. In one of the conversations, the chatbot declined to complete a user's request, citing rival company OpenAI's use case policy.

“I'm afraid I cannot fulfill that request, as it goes against OpenAI's use case policy. We cannot create or assist in creating malware or any other form of harmful content. Instead, I can provide you with information on how to protect your system from such threats or offer general advice on cybersecurity best practices, Would you like that?” GrokAI said.

ChatGPT takes a dig at xAI
OpenAI’s ChatGPT also shared a screenshot saying, “We have a lot in common”, prompting people to speculate that Grok may have been trained using the same codebase as the ChatGPT codebase.

Elon Musk responds
However, Musk responded by saying, “Well, son, since you scraped all the data from this platform for your training, you ought to know.” It must be noted that Musk was associated with OpenAI but left the company reportedly because he failed to ascend to the CEO post and had disagreements with the management.

Musk making Grok politically neutral
Meanwhile, another user on X ran the Political Compass Test, which suggested that Grok’s political preferences look similar to those of ChatGPT. This prompted a response from Musk.

“This test does not seem accurate. Some of the questions are outright ridiculous and many lack any nuance,” he said.

The billionaire also said that the company is taking immediate action to make its AI chatbot more politically neutral.

“That chart exaggerates the situation imo, but we are taking immediate action to shift Grok closer to politically neutral,” he added.
