A day after reports suggested that Samsung would change the name of its chip from Exynos to some other name, the South Korean company has said that the claims are untrue.

A leakster recently claimed that the company will rebrand its chip family and switch Exynos to “Dream Chip” but Samsung has told Android Authority that this claim isn’t correct and it is an internal project name.

“All rumours regarding rebranding are not true,” Samsung Semiconductor was quoted as saying.

It is to be noted that Samsung has been using the Exynos name for its processors since the Galaxy S2 back in 2011. The company has a lineup of affordable, mid-range and flagship chipsets that power its smartphones.

Not only smartphones, the company also uses Exynos branding in mobile processors, automotive chipsets, wearable chips, and modems, among others.

Earlier this year, reports also suggested that Samsung cancelled the Exynos 2300 chipset and the decision was made before the SoC entered mass production. It was said to be as powerful as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in multi-core performance.

multiple reports also suggested that Google’s Tensor G3, which powers the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 smartphones, is a modified version of the Exynos 2300 SoC.

Multiple reports also claim that the South Korean tech giant is working on the Exynos 2400, which is expected to release sometime in Q4 2023. The Exynos 2400 is said to be manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process, which has reportedly improved yields.
